How long is the rental period?

Our rental period is for 3 days, this includes delivery to your event and collection.

How many guests can I rent for?

We can provide some of our tablescapes for up to 40 people, however we can accommodate more than 40 guests with other options and advance notice. If you have an event that requires a tablescape for larger numbers get in touch with us via the enquiry form or send us an email at

When will my rental items be delivered & collected?

We will confirm a suitable time for delivery & collection after your rental is confirmed. For local glassware and crockery delivery, delivery is the day before your event and collection is the morning after. If sending via courier we will aim to have your order with you the day prior to your event.

What should I expect when my order arrives?

Our ready-to-rent tablescapes are packed into a Lay Me Down bag or basket and will include an instruction & care card. Individual rental items will be hand-delivered or couriered to your event location. All orders are packed with a high standard of hygiene including gloves & masks. Items are cleaned prior to being packed and are ready for you to use.

Do I need to wash the items before returning?

No, we do the hard work for you! Simply wipe down your crockery & cutlery to remove any stains or food, rinse the glassware and place all items back into the packaging provided. Please only hand wash our crockery, cutlery & glassware.

Please do not wash our linen items or use any scourers or materials that could cause any of our products to scratch. Our linens arrive pressed however if they do become wrinkled in transit, please iron on a low cotton heat and on the underside of the pattern. Please do not wash our linens but spot clean with soda water & light detergent if you find yourself with a messy guest (there’s always one!)

What if I need to change details on my order?

If something changes, please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to accomodate any changes.

When will my rental request be confirmed?

We are so excited that you have chosen Lay Me Down to celebrate with however please note that your rental items are not guaranteed or charged until confirmed via email.

Once we have received your booking request, we will contact you to confirm availability within 1 business day either by email or phone. A delivery & collection fee and fully refundable bond will be quoted in addition to the tableware rental cost. Why do you charge a security bond?

Our beautiful rental items are luxury goods and are available to be treasured by you and your guests. Just incase an accident happens where an item is damaged beyond repair, we will charge back the RRP of the item from your security bond and refund the remainder. In the case where damages incurred is more than the bond charged, you will be contacted and a further invoice will be raised. Please care for our items like they were your own and follow the care instructions provided. Security bonds will be returned after your items are collected and inspected. This usually takes one to two business days.

What should I do if I accidentally break or damage an item?

As per our Terms of Service, you are required to pay compensation in order to replace, repair or clean the damage to the item back to its original condition prior to your rental. Not following instructions such as cleaning instructions, return instructions or item care instructions authorises us to charge for repair or replacement cost.

How are your items cleaned?

Our linens are washed with heat & either pressed or steamed. Our other items are cleaned with high hygiene standards whilst protecting their delicate nature.

I need to cancel, what is your cancellation policy?

Lay Me Down rentals may be cancelled subject to the policy below:

All cancellations, postponements and changes must be confirmed in writing (email) by Lay Me Down. Order cancellations made 30 days or more in advance of the agreed delivery date will result in a full refund of the original payment and in the same form. Order cancellations made 30 days or less will receive a credit note to use with Lay Me Down valid for 12 months from the date of your event. Order cancellations made 7 days or less will not receive a refund or credit. For further information please see our Terms of Service.

What courier do you use?

All orders are shipped with NZ Post. Urgent Couriers may be used for last minute orders.

Shop FAQ

An item I love is out of stock, can I pre-order or be added to the wait list?

Shop pieces are sourced in limited quantities, if you are after an item which has sold out please email and I will do my best to source this or give a re-stock date.

When will my order ship?

Please allow 1-2 business days for your order to ship.

Do you offer gift wrapping?

All non-sale orders are wrapped in signature Lay green tissue with a handwritten thank you card. If you would like a gift message written instead, please leave a note at checkout.
